GENERAL CONDITIONS: Decreasing pressure in the Alps due to approaching depression minimum coming from Scandinavia and moving towards the Genova gulf, thus colder and moister air in the Alps. Between Wednesday and Thursday light cyclonic circulation with widespread cloudiness as well as light snowfalls in the Venetian mountains. Depression moving towards the Balkans on Friday, Northerly polar and less moist flux in the Alps with gradually improving conditions despite persistent cold temperatures.
FORECAST VALID FOR THE AFTERNOON-EVENING OF TUESDAY 09: Fairly good, partly high veiled clouds. Increasing veiled clouds in next hours with low clouds in some Prealps areas. Relatively cold temperatures.
WEDNESDAY 10: Mostly overcast already in the morning with middle-high stratiform clouds and chance of occasional sleet at high altitudes (30740%), whereas initially low risk in the valleys (20%). Further increasing cloudiness during the day and higher risk of light or very light snowfalls down on valley floors (80/90%). Mostly few cm amounts of new snow (2/5 cm). A little colder during the day than on Tuesday with narrow day temperature range.
Temperatures: Rising low temperatures in the valleys and slightly falling at high altitudes; generally slightly falling high temperatures.
At 2000 m: min -8°C, max -7°C; at 3000 m min -13°C, max -11°C.
Winds: Changeable light, Easterly stronger in the valleys; South-easterly moderate at high altitudes, 10-20 km/h at 2000 m, 15-25 km/h at 3000 m.
THURSDAY 11: Light disturbance and quite cold everywhere, very cold in the highest mountains. Overcast all the day whereas still light snowfalls in most Veneto mountains (80/90%), including valley floors, with 2/5 cm amounts on average, locally up to 10 cm on some Prealps ridges, especially East-facing.
Temperatures: Generally slightly falling with narrow day temperature range.
At 2000 m: min -10°C, max -9°C; at 3000 m min -16°C, max -15°C.
Winds: North-easterly light in the valleys, except for stronger in the East-facing areas; North-easterly moderate at high altitudes, 10-25 km/h at 2000 m, 15-25 km/h at 3000 m.
FRIDAY 12: Still overcast in the morning with remaining light snowfalls, then ceasing precipitations and changeable with clear-ups. Winter temperatures. North-easterly wind at high altitudes.
SATURDAY 13: Sunny but cold temperatures, generally clear, excellent visibility. Northerly moderate wind
